Celebrate the True Meaning of Labor Day at the Faith and Labor Picnic Monday, September 6th, 11 am to 2 pm at Trinity UMC
As you may know, a number of members of our congregation are involved in Workers Interfaith Network, or WIN. WIN is a movement of people of faith and low-wage workers here in Memphis. WIN educates low wage workers about their rights. WIN helps workers stop abuses like wage theft, when employers do not pay workers all of the wages that are owed to them. WIN also led the successful Memphis and Shelby County living wage campaigns.
The picnic raises funds for WIN’s living wage and worker rights campaigns, and it’s also lots of fun. Admission includes all food and beverages, live music and dance performances, a Moon Bounce and face painting for the kids, and the chance to win door prizes.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5 – 12, or a maximum charge of $30 per family. Tickets can be purchased online at www.workersinterfaithnetwork.org or you can purchase tickets at the door. There’s plenty of shade, but you probably want to bring your own blanket or folding chair. We hope to see you on Labor Day! |
