Music Notes from Tom Machen:

September 12 Anthem

Already a popular worship chorus, AMAZING GRACE (MY CHAINS ARE GONE) by Chris Tomlin and Louis Giglio, is new to our Chancel Choir. Countless believers have been inspired over the centuries by the simple American hymn Amazing Grace. Tomlin and Giglio wrote their own chorus to remind us of the unspeakable freedom that Christ's followers can experience now and through all eternity. The words proclaim My chains are gone, I've been set free, my God, my Savior ransomed me. This is a song that will resonate with everyone when we present it on September 12.

HYMN SING SUNDAY We continue to tally your votes for all-time favorite hymns. We will present your “top ten list” on September 26. Will your favorite be number one?

Important Chancel Choir Dates and Times:

Wednesday, September 15th - Oratorio Choir Rehearsal in preparation for the Christmas Cantata begins: 6:30 to 7:15 pm in the Choir Room. (7:15 pm we will continue rehearsal for Weekly Service Music.)

Thursday, October 7th - The Mighty Manly Men’s Music Machine will rehearse 6:30 to 7:30 pm and prepare for what’s to come!

Sunday, October 11th - The Mighty Manly Men’s Music Machine will invade and occupy the Chancel. We plan to have a great and memorable time raising the roof and praising the Lord. Don’t miss it, guys.

Sunday, December 12th - This year’s Christmas cantata will be NIGHT OF THE FATHERʼS LOVE by Pepper Choplin and will be presented Sunday, accompanied by members of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. To listen to this music please follow this link -
