Youth at Trinity
Youth Ministry at Trinity includes students enrolled in grades 7 -12. Our programs feature small group opportunities that foster deep relationships with God and with other students, and large group opportunities that expand our friendships through the United Methodist connection.
Activities and opportunities for youth are organized by leadership from students and from adults. UMYF leaders include President, President-Alternate, Chair of Communications, Chair of Publicity, Chair of Missions, Chair of Worship, and Photographer. Within the wider church, students serve on all of Trinity’s boards and committees.
Worship and spiritual formation anchor our time. Sunday morning groups study scripture passages that will be read during worship. An annual Youth Sunday is celebrated. During UMYF, meditative worship experiences are frequently offered, including candlelight services and labyrinth walks. Youth often provide leadership at Trinity’s Fifth Sunday Evening services.
Mission and service are hallmarks of Trinity’s youth program. Our projects include:
- Week-long mission trip
- 2003 to Oklahoma
- 2004 to Welch, West Virginia
- 2005 to Livingston, Alabama
- 2006 - Pass Christian Katrina Relief
- 2007 - Birmingham Youth Works
- Raising funds for hunger abatement on Super Bowl Sunday
- Volunteering at Trinity’s annual Vacation Bible School
- Assorted building & grounds projects
- Sock Tree for the Homeless, during Christmas
- Assist at Children's Card Factory on Sundays
- Sponsored fall food drive
- Regular leadership at Sabbath School at Holy Community UMC
And we do love to Fellowship! UMYF Sunday evening meals are a highlight each week. The overnight youth Lock-In is a well-established December tradition.
